October brings cooler weather, outdoor Adventures, and one of our favorite Luckydog traditions! This month, meet our Dog of the Month, Orsen, enter your pup in our annual Halloween Costume Contest, and take a look behind the scenes at what goes on with the humans in playgroup! We also have an important holiday booking reminder and a couple of Ruffwear favorites ready for cooler days ahead. Happy Fall to All!

‍

Dog of the Month: Orsen C..‍

Our October Dog of the Month is Orsen C., the Cattle Dog mix! Orsen has been part of the Luckydog family since 2023, and he believes every dog is just a friend he hasn’t met yet. Some of his favorite pals include Penny F., Georgia H., and Hobart J., and he loves heading out on Adventures for a good romp with his friends.

Outside of Luckydog, Orsen has been known to get a little too friendly with the occasional skunk. At Luckydog, he puts that nose to better use during enrichment sessions filled with scent work, tricks, and plenty of treats. One thing’s for sure, if there’s a good time to be had, count Orsen in!

Behind the Scenes: What’s Happening in Playgroup?

There’s a lot more happening in our playgroups than meets the eye! Throughout the day, our team is continually watching each dog’s body language, behavior, and interactions to make sure they’re comfortable and enjoying their time with us.

We love to see relaxed body language and loose, wiggly bodies during play. We also look for dogs who are comfortable stepping away from play and checking in with our team members. That engagement with our staff can tell us quite a bit about how a dog is feeling in their environment.

Just as importantly, we watch closely for subtle changes that may indicate stress, anxiety, or overstimulation. When we see those signs, our team can step in early and help that dog take a break, settle, or make another adjustment based on what they need at that time.

Our goal isn’t simply to supervise play. It’s to understand how each dog is doing throughout the day and make adjustments to help keep their experience positive, comfortable, and fun.

Fall is Made for Off-Leash Adventures!

Cooler days make fall a great time to get outside and explore! Private Park Adventures offer with plenty of room to run, sniff, and explore in our fully fenced private pasture. It’s also a great option for dogs who enjoy off-site adventures but may not have reliable recall.

For dogs ready for even more exploring, Wilderness Adventures take small groups out to 400 acres of private property, with trails, open air, and pond access. If you’d like to get your pup started with Wilderness Adventures, contact our team about scheduling an evaluation. We’re also happy to help determine which Adventure option may be the best fit for your pup!

Starting to Plan for the Holidays?

The holidays will be here before we know it!
